



Summary:
This project will construct a recreation center in the North West Region of Cameroon, providing a safe haven for approximately 300 orphans, street kids and Internally displaced children affected and traumatized by the ongoing anglophone crisis through music, arts and craft, agriculture, sports and critically needed professional trauma recovery services etc.
Challenge:
In January 2020, UNICEF Cameroon reported that of the two regions affected by the 4 years and ongoing anglophone crisis, the situation in the North West is considerably worse with 91% of schools closed during leaving children more vulnerable to violence, kidnappings, abject poverty, child prostitution and other war related traumas. This project will impact about 300 out of the estimated 2000 children current living in these deplorable and unsafe conditions.

Solution:
This center will provide daily recreational and vocational activities and training as well as counselling to foster a quick recovery from trauma. By spending their days at this center, these precious children will not only be kept safe from predators, kidnappers, sexual violence and child prostitution but will acquire marketable skills in arts and crafts, fashion design and jewelry making, technology that can intend help them secure a better financial future for themselves and their families.
Long-Term Impact:
Besides keeping 300 vulnerable kids safe from child exploitation such as sexual abuse, child prostitution, kidnappings etc, these kids will be healed from trauma, regain their self-confidence as they use their acquired marketable skills to pursue better opportunities and better living standards for themselves and their families.
