In continuation to its firm commitment to the plight of the underprivileged, NDES FOUNDATION once more paid a visit to the hemodialysis center of the Regional Hospital Buea. This time, 15 more patients were offered financial assistance for a month of free dialysis each. The assistance worth 300 000 FCFA comes at a time when the patients needed it most.
Speaking during the occasion, the Dr. Tawafue Denise, the Doctor in charge of the Hemodialysis Center made the point that chronic diseases can drain the resources of even the richest patients over the years. The situation is worst for these underprivileged patients who can’t afford the dialysis fees on a regular basis and are thus forced to skip dialysis sessions every now and then. The assistance from NDEF was thus timely and overwhelming.
In addition to the financial assistance, the foundation donated 10 pairs of crocs for the patients to use during dialysis. It was noted during their previous visit that the patients did have crocs and were forced to go into the dialysis room bare footed exposing them to more dangers from germs.
It was an overwhelming occasion for some of the patients who thanked the foundation and all those who donated to make the occasion possible. Speaking on behalf of the President of the Foundation, Enyih Stanley, the Secretary Ngasa Pride Yanu, extended words of comfort to the patients. He emphasized that at the NDES FOUNDATION, assistance goes beyond financial donations; it is a show of communion and offer of hope and courage to these patients giving them the opportunity to spend one more day, week or month with their loved ones as the Lord wills. He promised that God willing and with the continuous support of well wishers and the donor community, NDES FOUNDATION hopes to return on a monthly basis to offer whatever little assistance they can.
