The conference hall of the St. Glory Orphanage, Malingo Street Molyko Buea, was on the 29th of August 2019 full to capacity as children from the Teleola Martha Foundation, Mountain Kids Orphanage as well as the St. Glory Orphanage assembled to benefit from awards of scholarship from the NDES FOUNDATION.
The handing over ceremony was one of its kind in the municipality of Buea and witnessed a massive turnout from well-wishers and school lovers in the municipality. The NDES FOUNDATION being barely two months old was able to hand over Cash awards of Scholarships as well as educational materials to the children from all the three orphanages. 03 outstandingly brilliant students, one each from each of the orphanage were handed cash awards to pay their schools fees while 28 others were handed school bags filled with complete exercise books, math sets, calculators, rulers, pens and pencils. Each orphan received complete educational materials as per their class.The recipients, Jinjo Fabrice Baweh from the St. Glory Orphanage and Keju Cynthia from Mountain Kids Orphanage each received Thirty-Five (35 000) FCFA while young Edimo Ngale from the Teleola Martha Foundation was handed Sixty-Five (65 000) FCFA. In addition to the awards and educational materials, foodstuffs which included bags of rice, salt and maggi were equally donated to the orphanages.
“We are overwhelmed by this show of love’’, Mrs. Toge Rachel, the Proprietress of St. Glory orphanage expressed her gratitude while speaking at the event. Her joy was shared by Mme. Stella of Mountain Kids Orphanage as well as Mr. Frankline of the Teleola Martha Foundation. They all thanked the NDES Foundation and prayed the good God will keep providing even more. The occasion was graced with animation from the kids who couldn’t hide their joy at receiving new school bags and books. They presented some beautiful memory verses, songs and exceptional dance moves that thrilled the crowd. Many expressed their aspirations to become medical doctors, lawyers, pilots and teachers in order to make their parents proud and to be able to give back to other orphanages when they grow up. It was a touching and emotional display from the kids.
Speaking on behalf of the President of the Foundation, Nde Stanley, the Secretary, Ngasa Pride Yanu expressed the joy of the Nde’s Family to be able to realize the dreams of their parents Pa Nde Zacharia and Ma Nde Elizabeth in whose blessed memory the foundation was founded. He said it was always their dream to cater for the homeless and provide for the orphans and today through the foundation, that dream was being realized. “At the NDES FOUNDATION, WE ARE GIVING FOR THE GREATER GOOD’’ he said as he presented the gifts as a sign of their love and bond. He hoped the occasion will mark the beginning of a long-lasting relationship between the foundation and the various orphanages as they come together to provide for the orphans and underprivileged. In attendance were some of the daughters, sons and grandchildren of Pa and Ma Nde amongst whom were Nde Susan, Enyih Marvin, Ndeh Paffilakis, Carine Endo, Ngu Helen and Sakwe Ruth.
The occasion came to an end with some light refreshment for the kids and taking of group pictures. The children couldn’t be separated from their brand-new school bags and looked forward to the new academic year with renewed enthusiasm.
